Wilderness Outfitters, originally founded by Smoke Elser, has been hunting area 280 in the proposed Monture addition to the Bob Marshall Wilderness for nearly forty years. Our camp is located in the Lolo National Forest, approximately 7 mile via horse and pack string from the trailhead. The rifle season in this area opens September 15th and continues well into November allowing us to offer both rut hunts for elk early, and late hunts for both deer and elk after the snow arrives. For a change of pace there is also good fishing for Rainbow and Cutthroat trout in one of several lakes in our area.
Wilderness Outfitters offers a traditional wilderness hunt. This is a fair chase hunt for a limited number of clients. Our camp is comfortable, the food the best we can provide, and the hunting experience that is unforgettable. It is a hunting experience in the true sense. We are our on the trail before daylight so that we can observe the game in their feeding areas. Our guides work hard to show you game each day. Such a hunt is an experience of a lifetime. It provides memories and experiences that will be treasured for years.
Camp facilities include a clean, dry, and comfortable camp with wall tents, warming stoves, cots, and chairs. All meals are served family style and include great entrees such as chicken, pork chops, steak, and other hearty meals. Our horses are kept in top working condition by daily rations of grain and hay and are kept in corrals, always easily accessible for use. Each hunter is fitted to a saddle, complete with rifle scabbard and saddle bags. We carefully select a horse for you that will fit your needs for the hunt.
Our goal is to provide you with a successful hunt but even more important is to give you a quality wilderness experience. It is our pleasure to be able to share such an experience with you and we hope that you will contact us for further information.
