ELM INC. Guide And Packer SchoolGuide SchoolGuide SchoolGuide School

This year’s hands on school will be held May 28th through June 24th. Having guided in the Bob Marshall Wilderness for 17 years I have a good understanding of what wilderness Outfitters need and look for in their employees.

We will start out at the Monture trailhead where we will have wall tents with cots and wood stoves. There we will learn to safely travel in the wilderness on horses and how to pack mules. From the Monture trailhead it is just a 2 hour ride into our hunting area. This allows us to practice horsemanship and guiding skills in an area that has good numbers of big game. We will be riding and packng in this area until your skills and confidance allows us to move on to multiday trips into the Bob Marshall Wilderness. During the last two weeks of the course we will spend much of our time traveling through the vast wilderness seeking out and stalking elk and deer. You will learn how to select good camps and set up along the many great fishing rivers and lakes in the Bob. We will teach you many fishing techniques you can pass on to your clients. The teamwork and work ethic of the wilderness guide will be taught as we ride through what I believe is the best wilderness area in the nation.

All Students are required to complete the Elm Home Study Prep-Course (Erv Malnarich Outfitters and Guides Bible) prior to attending Wilderness Outfitters Guide and Packer School. For more information regarding the Elm Home Study Course please contact Michael or Julie Knott. 406-961-3603
